“I am a DJ from South Africa who has been skateboarding since I
was a child. I grew up and got to meet my idols in pro skaters who
subsequently became my friends. They were who I wished to be
and they let me in, which was an amazing welcome into the
culture. I got to the point where I wanted to be in the culture
forever and make it a business and not just a hobby. Fast forward
a few years, I hooked up with one of my friends and we’ve built a
skate brand called Brother. Nothing to do with gender, but rather
a “community”. I am Lesego Nkaiseng “Dj Speedsta” and I am one
half of Brother Skateboards.”

Joshua Chisholm

Co Founder

“My name is Joshua Chisholm and I’ve been skating since I was 9
years old, which means it’s been over 20 years. My passion for
skateboarding consumes my everyday life still to this day. Being a
part of an amazing brand was always part of the plan and now
owning a Skate brand is a dream come true. I’m happy to be
partnering up with Lesego aka “Speedy” because he also has a
deep passion for skateboarding. Brother Skateboards, a fully black
owned skateboarding brand, hopes to incorporate events, trips and
tours that will showcase the culture of skateboarding in South
Africa.

About the Company

Brother Skateboards is a black owned South African skateboarding brand founded by Lesego “DJ Speedsta”
Nkaiseng and Joshua Chisholm. Two like minded individuals with a shared passion for skating. Skateboarding is
how and where the duo first met.
While the South African skateboarding culture does exist, it’s presence is not loud nor explored enough. Lesego
and Joshua saw this as an opportunity to showcase the skateboarding culture within the South African landscape
with the introduction of Brother Skateboards.
The word “Brother” is not gender specific. By our own definition, Brother is a member of the same group as you or
who shares an interest with you or has a similar way of thinking to you. Brother Skateboards can’t exactly be fit
into one box. It’s not about riding a board, it’s about community, showing creativity, relieving stress, and most
importantly having fun regardless of gender, race and/or class.
Brother Skateboards provides high quality skateboard decks and apparel that are designed with the needs of
skateboarders in mind. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skater, you can count on Brother Skateboards
to deliver a top-notch product that will help you take your skills to the next level.
